Over 88,000 Electric Vehicles Receive Support in Madhya Pradesh Under PM E-DRIVE
Bhopal, Aug 12: More than 88,000 electric vehicles received incentives in Madhya Pradesh during the financial year 2025-26 under the Centre’s PM E-DRIVE scheme, highlighting the growing acceptance of electric mobility across the state.
A total of 88,209 electric vehicles were supported under the scheme during the year, while 94,277 electric vehicles were deployed in Madhya Pradesh under the programme.
The figures indicate growing interest among consumers and businesses in cleaner alternatives to petrol and diesel vehicles. Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers have been particularly important in this transition because of their widespread use for daily travel and commercial activities.
The PM E-DRIVE scheme is aimed at encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles and supporting the development of the infrastructure and manufacturing ecosystem needed for their wider use.
Madhya Pradesh did not receive any electric buses under the scheme during 2025-26. The state’s EV adoption during the period was therefore largely driven by smaller electric vehicles.
For many users, the shift to electric mobility is linked not only to environmental concerns but also to the potential for lower running and maintenance costs. However, factors such as the purchase price of vehicles, availability of charging stations and access to reliable servicing continue to influence buying decisions.
The expansion of electric mobility is also creating opportunities for businesses involved in charging infrastructure, battery technology, vehicle components and related services.
The Centre has been supporting the wider EV ecosystem through various initiatives aimed at encouraging domestic manufacturing and improving the availability of electric vehicles and their components.
For Madhya Pradesh, the growing number of supported EVs represents an important step in the state’s transition towards cleaner transportation. Sustaining this momentum will depend on making electric vehicles more affordable, expanding charging facilities and ensuring that consumers can access dependable services after purchase.
The latest figures show that government incentives are helping more people consider electric vehicles as a practical option for everyday mobility, while also contributing to India’s broader push towards cleaner and more sustainable transport.
