ETASHA Society Launches “DigiSaksham” to Help Young People Spot Online Scams, Fake Jobs and Fraud

For adolescents and young people from communities with limited exposure to digital platforms, the internet can be both an opportunity and a vulnerability. They use it everyday to search for jobs, build skills, access government services, prepare for competitive examinations or learn through YouTube. But the same digital space can expose them to fake job offers, scams, fraudulent messages, misleading information, unsafe links, privacy risks and financial fraud. The challenge is ensuring that they have the knowledge to question, recognise, protect and respond when something does not look right.

DigiSaksham is a free online learning platform developed by ETASHA Society to build practical digital literacy and online safety skills. It enables learners to understand digital risks, recognise warning signs and know what action to take. The knowledge can also be shared with family members and communities, helping create greater awareness beyond the individual learner. A digital safety initiative aiming to reach 20,000 people.

Quotes
“DigiSaksham is about making digital opportunities safer for everyone. Parents use phones, women and men go out to work, but the children at home can be the most vulnerable. By educating adolescents, youth and families, we are bridging the gap between digital opportunity and the responsibility to use it safely.” Dr. Meenakshi Nayar, Founder President, ETASHA Society
“Online opportunities are enormous, but they come with risks. This launch today is another positive step in ensuring that everyone can participate in the digital world safely, confidently and responsibly. Also, yet another step towards building a safe and a more digital inclusive India. ETASHA as an organisation is consistently focussed on young people getting access to opportunities through education, employability and life skills. It is focused on outcomes rather than activities” Mr. Ian McBride, Head Responsible Business & Social Impact – India, BT Group.
