20th July 2021 marks the day when Lord Vishnu is said to go into deep meditation for four months marking the beginning of Chaturmas, a holy period that lasts for four months. This auspicious period includes Shravan, Bhadrapada, Ashwin, and Kartik months. All the major Hindu festivals like Navratri, Janmashtmi, Shravan Somvar, Diwali, and Ganesh Chaturthi are celebrated during these four months. According to Hindu beliefs, those who observe today’s fast ( Vrat ) are blessed with lifelong happiness and success. It is said that when Lord Vishnu goes into deep sleep Lord Shiva takes over for the time being and looks after the universe.
“Most importantly, it is said that no auspicious ceremonies are held during these four months. Ceremonies like weddings, engagements, housewarming parties, naming of the kid etc. are all held after Lord Vishnu wakes up , that is after 118 days on Prabodhini Ekadshi which will hail on 14th of November this year.” Kashish Parashar, Astrologer, Numerologist and Palm Reader
