The initiative is part of a week-long series of activities being organised by the DMRC to mark the occasion and promote the spirit of patriotism and national unity.
In a social media post, the DMRC said the special train has been decorated under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, encouraging citizens to proudly display the National Flag and participate in related digital activities.
This year’s campaign also marks the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, India’s national song, adding a special significance to the Independence Day celebrations.
The campaign seeks to encourage citizens to celebrate Independence Day by hoisting the Tricolour at their homes and taking part in activities highlighting India’s national identity and the country’s journey since Independence.
The specially wrapped Metro train will serve as a moving symbol of the Independence Day celebrations for commuters travelling on the Yellow Line.
India will celebrate its 80th Independence Day on August 15, commemorating the country’s independence from British rule in 1947. The day is marked across the country through flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes and public events.
The DMRC’s initiative is part of broader preparations for Independence Day, with government departments and public institutions organising programmes to encourage greater public participation in the celebrations.
