Terna Speciality Hospital & Research Centre observes National Pharmacovigilance Week

Pharmacovigilance Week -1

Mumbai- National Pharmacovigilance Week was celebrated pan India from 17th -23rd September 2021 under the aegis of Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, National Coordination Centre-Pharmacovigilance Programme of India. On this occasion, the Terna Speciality Hospital & Research centre from Nerul , Navi Mumbai , Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) monitoring center, Department of Pharmacology and Terna Medical College conducted series of event in this week with their Healthcare Professionals to make awareness among patient’s especially corona vaccinated citizens regarding the ADR reporting of medicines and its importance. National Pharmacovigilance Week was organized with the objective of reporting adverse drug reactions and making its importance to the general public. Informing about the various dimensions of Pharmacovigilance, a speech was given by all the doctors of the department.

On 23rd September a skit was organized on Community awareness and sensitization about ADR reporting and patient safety by the second and third MBBS students. This was performed in the Hospital OPD area for maximum outreach.It was done to increase the awareness in the patients regarding importance of ADR reporting and avoiding self-medication. This skit was coordinated by Dr. Sangita Sukumaran, Prof & Head, and Dr. Veena Rani Vemuri, Deputy coordinator, ADR Monitoring centre and Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology under the continuous guidance from the Dean, Terna Medical college, Dr. Sunil Petkar and Dr. Parag Sharma, Medical Superintendent, Terna Hospital.

Other programs organized during the week were, a Guest talk by the speaker Dr. Shraddha Bhange, Medical Director, Safety science, Eversana. There was an e – poster, essay writing as well as video competition organized in the college for students. A quiz was also held for both the faculty and students regarding the Pharmacovigilance program and ADR reporting.
