Indian Workers Strengthen the Bridge Between India and Saudi Arabia
Riyadh, Sep 7: Indian workers in Saudi Arabia are making an important contribution to the close relationship between the two countries, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said during his visit to the Kingdom.
Singh made the remarks after meeting Indian workers at a labour camp of Al Fanar Company in Riyadh. He appreciated their contribution and said the welfare of Indians living and working abroad remains an important priority for the government.
The minister’s interaction with workers comes as India and Saudi Arabia look to further strengthen cooperation in employment, manpower and skill development. During his visit, Singh also held discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Development Ahmad bin Sulaiman Alrajhi on expanding cooperation in the labour and manpower sectors.
For Indian workers, closer coordination between the two governments is important in areas such as employment opportunities, skills, worker welfare and manpower mobility. The discussions also reflect the growing importance of people-to-people ties in the broader India-Saudi partnership.
Singh is on his first official visit to Saudi Arabia in his current role. During the four-day visit, he is meeting senior Saudi officials as well as members of the Indian community, including workers, business leaders, entrepreneurs and professionals.
His meetings are covering a range of areas, including human resources, skill development, environment, climate change and international affairs. The engagements are aimed at strengthening cooperation across several sectors and giving further momentum to the strategic partnership between the two countries.
