Avik’s selection follows a year of stellar performances that placed him at the top of the Indian team’s merit list. The 16-year-old prodigy has showcased exceptional consistency and skill, winning over 40 medals across international, national, and regional competitions in 2024–25 a record that firmly establishes him among India’s most promising young equestrian athletes.

At the Asian Youth Games, Avik will compete aboard his seven-year-old horse, BB’s NirBhau (Nathan) a partnership celebrated for its precision, timing, and seamless synchronization in the arena.

This is not Avik’s first tryst with international glory. He previously represented India as part of the Indian Children’s Team in 2022, and went on to secure an Individual Bronze Medal at the Asian Equestrian Federation Cup (Youth) early indicators of his immense potential and dedication to the sport.

Expressing pride and gratitude over his selection, Avik said,

It’s an honour to represent my country and my home state of Punjab at such a prestigious event. This opportunity is the result of years of hard work, discipline, and the unwavering support of my coaches, family, and mentors. I aim to make India proud at the Asian Youth Games.”

Avik’s journey is emblematic of the rising interest and talent in equestrian sports in India, a discipline that demands not only athletic ability but also an extraordinary bond between rider and horse. His success story serves as an inspiration for young athletes from non-traditional sporting regions, proving that with perseverance and passion, international recognition is within reach.

As the Asian Youth Games 2025 approach, all eyes will be on Avik Bhatia — Punjab’s trailblazing equestrian — as he gears up to make history and bring further glory to Indian sports on the global stage.
