Inputs – Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) completes 11 successful years

On this occasion, Mr. Shikhar Aggarwal, Chairman, BLS E-Services Ltd., shared his inputs:

“Today we celebrate the completion of 11 years of transformative impact of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY). We feel proud to be part of this journey of taking Financial Inclusion in the nook and corner of this nation. The vision with which our Prime Minister envisaged this Yojana, its numbers speaks for its success. As it is highlighted by Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman ji, over the last 11 years, more than 56 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened, garnering a total deposit balance of Rs. 2.68 lakh crore. More than 38 crore free-of-cost RuPay cards have been issued, facilitating digital transactions. 67% of the accounts are opened in rural or semi-urban areas, and 56% of the accounts are opened by women, indicating how underprivileged individuals living in far-flung areas of the country have been brought into the formal financial sector. As the Ministry of Finance remains committed to supporting marginalised and economically disadvantaged sections through robust financial inclusion strategies. We are committed to take this vision forward and fulfilled with our Pan India network of BC points. And as PMJDY enters its 12th year, we make sure that we carry forward our work of bringing in rural populations in the ambit of financial security.”
