Bangalore September 13, 2024: A 50-year-old male patient presented with achalasia, a neurological disorder affecting the oesophagus. Achalasia is characterized by the inability of the lower oesophageal sphincter (LES) to relax, leading to difficulty swallowing, regurgitation of food, weight loss, and potentially chronic cough.
The patient successfully underwent a Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) procedure to treat achalasia at Aster CMI Hospital Bangalore.
