HCG Cancer Centre, Ranchi and Lions Club of Dhanbad Organize Walkathon to Raise Awareness on Early Cancer Detection
Dhanbad, July 25, 2025: HCG Cancer Centre, Ranchi, in association with the Lions Club of Dhanbad – Coal Capital, organized a walkathon at Golf Ground, Dhanbad, to spread awareness about the importance of early cancer detection. The event saw enthusiastic participation from over 250 people, including members of the Lions Club, representatives from Saiya Sathi, and several college students.
The event commenced at 6:30 AM, with participants walking in unity to support the cause of cancer awareness. After the walkathon, the crowd engaged in an energetic Zumba session led by certified trainers, highlighting the role of physical fitness in cancer prevention. The special awareness talk by Dr. Md Aftab Alam Ansari, Senior Consultant – Radiation Oncology, HCG Cancer Hospital, Ranchi, highlighted that many forms of cancer are highly treatable if detected early. He urged the community to prioritize regular screenings and health check-ups, emphasizing that early diagnosis not only improves outcomes but also allows for more effective and less invasive treatment options.
Key dignitaries at the event included Lion Mukesh Burman, President of the Lions Club of Dhanbad – Coal Capital, along with LN Prajwal Bhattacharya, Treasurer, and LN Santosh Yadav, Secretary. Their leadership and dedication played a vital role in the success of the initiative. The event also saw enthusiastic participation from several college students and local residents, reflecting a strong and unified community commitment to promoting health awareness.
