Lara Croft And Princess Peach

Top of the list is Lara Croft, the British archaeologist from the game Tomb Raider. An iconic character who’s been on the gaming scene for nearly thirty years, she holds six Guinness World Records and features in three movies.

Princess Peach appears in multiple Mario games, the world’s best-selling video game franchise. She’s the head of state of the Mushroom Kingdom, and she usually gets kidnapped by villains like Bowser, awaiting rescue by intrepid plumber Mario.

Bayonetta And Lady Dimitrescu

Bayonetta is an Umbra Witch who’s famous for her fabulous hair, wicked style, and her dab hand with a gun. With her ‘Bullet Arts’ she goes from saving the world in the first game to stopping a Singularity from destroying the Multiverse in the third.

The newest character on this list, Lady Dimitrescu is a human aristocrat turned mutant who instantly made a stir in the online community with her confidence and style. The evil rumors of the townsfolk she ruled over about her liking for mass murder and cannibalism turned out to be true, and she was eventually killed by Ethan Winters in the latest Resident Evil game.

Jill Valentine And Ada Wong

Jill Valentine appears in Resident Evil, as she’s hunted by a wicked bioweapon named Nemesis. This insanely popular game series about fighting zombies was produced on PC, Playstation, and Xbox.

Interestingly, Ada Wong is also from the Resident Evil franchise. She’s a spy, femme fatale, and expert fighter. Devoted fans have been hoping to see her again in future game releases, as she’s a perpetually popular character.

The Remaining Four

Mercy is perhaps Overwatch’s most famous support hero, beloved for her kind nature and admired for her winged suit that lets her dart across the battlefield to heal her comrades. Famous for the pair of steel fans she uses as a weapon, Kitana initially appeared in Mortal Combat in 1993, and has appeared in every game since.

Followers of the Final Fantasy VII series will be familiar with Tifa Lockhart, a member of the militant group Avalanche and childhood friend of protagonist Cloud, who helps him save the world. Midna is known for her role in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, where she slowly evolves from being a harsh, uncaring individual to someone kinder who becomes a staunch ally of protagonist Link.

Cristian says, ‘Devoted gamers will know many other female characters, such as D.Va, Ellie from the Last of Us, and Chun-Li. One study found that 46% of U.S. gamers are female, which reflects their essential place in this exciting industry.’
