Aligned with the global vision of SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), the session aimed to deepen awareness and understanding of the legal, social and institutional dimensions of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013. The initiative was also conducted in alignment with UGC mandates on ensuring safe, secure and gender-sensitive campuses in higher educational institutions.

In his inaugural address, Prof. (Dr.) P. B. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, emphasized the pivotal role of educational institutions in shaping ethically responsible and socially conscious individuals. Prof Sharma highlighted that awareness of rights and responsibilities is fundamental to building a culture of respect, accountability and a strong zero-tolerance approach toward inappropriate behaviour.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Seema Kaul Singh, Director, Institute of Constitutional and Parliamentary Studies, underscored that such behaviour is not merely a legal concern but a serious violation of human dignity. She emphasized the need for robust institutional mechanisms and a sustained commitment to safeguarding respectful workplaces and learning environments.

Prof. (Dr.) Bharti, Professor of Law, NLU Delhi, delivered a comprehensive perspective on the legal framework governing workplace conduct, elaborating on the Vishaka Guidelines and their significance in shaping the POSH Act, 2013. She highlighted the evolving legal landscape and the critical role of Internal Committees in ensuring effective redressal and institutional accountability.

Prof. (Dr.) Sanjna Vij, Director, Academic Staff College and Chairperson, Amity Women Cell, emphasized the importance of creating a safe and respectful campus culture. She reiterated that awareness of the POSH Act is not merely a statutory requirement but an essential component of value-based and holistic education.

The technical sessions were led by distinguished legal experts Adv. Divya Rai, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, and Adv. Shreya Dixit, Founder & Director, Pride & Justice Associates. Through interactive discussions, case studies and practical insights, the sessions bridged the gap between legal provisions and their real-world implementation, focusing on complaint redressal, professional conduct and institutional responsibilities.
