MumbaiIndia — June 09, 2025This June, the Sewing Festival India 2025 hosted by and at The hab by Usha, celebrates sewing, sustainability, and handmade innovation. Kicking off on International Sewing Day, the 3-day Festival – from June 13 to 15, between 2:00 to 7:00 PM daily – brings together creatives, designers, DIYers, and conscious consumers at The hab’s vibrant experience centre in Mumbai.
 
 
This year’s theme, STITCHVERSE: The Future of DIY Fashion & Craft, sets the stage for a future-forward, boutique-format event spotlighting the modern face of sewing through hands-on workshops, industry panels, and creative conversations.

  • Stick & Stitch with Akshata Jain (Knot Your Type) – A social-media-fuelled embroidery brand redefining upcycling through modern DIY kits and accessible design.

  • Scrap to Swag with Renu Sisodiya, Experience Lead, The hab by Usha – A hands-on patch-making workshop with The hab’s in-house textile expert and multi-skilled artist.
  •  
  • Totes & Trims with Rabab Kanchwala (G&R) – Learn to create a reversible gingham tote with patch pocket detailing in this community-focused sewing session.

  • Roots & Revolutions: Rethinking Fashion with Heritage, Hemp & Handmade – Featuring a discussion between Mayank Bhutra (Erode Clothing) and Mousmi Sejpal (Hemp Fabric Lab, BOHECO) on reviving heritage craft and scaling sustainable materials.

  • Thread Therapy: Sewing Beyond the 9 to 5 – An honest conversation with long-time sewists on creative balance, burnout, and life beyond the office.
