Tashkent to Host Major Asian Paralympic Gathering in 2027

Dubai, Aug 27: Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, has been selected to host the 2027 Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) Conference, Asian Awards and General Assembly.

The event will be held in November or December 2027, with the exact dates to be announced later. This will be the first time Uzbekistan hosts the APC’s flagship gathering.

Tashkent was selected following a competitive bidding process involving five National Paralympic Committees from Asia. The city received the support of a majority of APC Executive Board members and Standing Committee chairpersons.

Representatives from all 45 Asian National Paralympic Committees are expected to attend the event, along with athletes, sports officials, international federations and other stakeholders.

The conference will focus on the development of Para sport in Asia, with discussions and workshops covering key priorities for the movement. The General Assembly will provide members an opportunity to discuss organisational and strategic matters.

The Asian Awards will also be held in Tashkent to recognise individuals and organisations for their contribution to the Paralympic movement.

APC President Majid Rashed welcomed the selection of Tashkent and said the gathering would provide an opportunity for the Asian Paralympic community to exchange ideas and work together for the future of Para sport.

The National Paralympic Committee of Uzbekistan also welcomed the decision, describing it as an honour for the country.

The previous APC Conference and General Assembly were held in Astana, Kazakhstan, in 2025.

The APC will announce further details about the 2027 programme and dates in due course.
