Shree Cement Foundation partners with Apollo Tyres Foundation to launch preventive healthcare program for truck drivers at Ras and Beawar
Shree Cement Limited, one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, through its Foundation has partnered with Apollo Tyres Foundation to launch a preventive healthcare programme for truck drivers operating at its manufacturing locations in Ras and Beawar, Rajasthan.
The initiative was formally inaugurated at Shree Cement’s Ras unit, marking the start of a long-term program aimed at addressing the health risks faced by truck drivers, one of the most vital links of India’s industrial supply chain. The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Mr Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director of Shree Cement and Trustee, Shree Foundation Trust and Ms. Rinika Grover, Head, Sustainability and CSR, Apollo Tyres.
The program aims to ensure accessible healthcare for truck drivers, offering services such as HIV prevention, vision care, tuberculosis awareness, and screening and counselling for non-communicable diseases including diabetes and high blood pressure. Further, the interventions will include health awareness sessions, basic diagnostics, counselling, and referrals where required, delivered through this healthcare outreach model.
Speaking on the occasion, Satish Maheshwari, Chief Manufacturing Officer, Shree Cement said, “The logistics ecosystem depends heavily on truck drivers. Long hours on the road, limited access to basic healthcare, and the absence of support systems mean that health concerns frequently go unaddressed. Through this partnership, we want to acknowledge the human realities of their profession and take meaningful steps towards improving their overall wellbeing.”
Rinika Grover, Head – Sustainability and CSR, Apollo Tyres, said, “At Apollo Tyres Foundation, we have consistently worked with trucker communities across India. Our partnership with Shree Cement enables us to deliver essential health services directly to drivers at their work and rest locations, reducing barriers to access.”
The initiative reflects a shared commitment by Shree Cement and Apollo Tyres rooted in the belief that industrial growth must go hand-in-hand with the well-being of the people who keep supply chains moving.
