Original Wrecked Cars on Billboards: CARS24 Sparks a Viral Wake-Up Call on Drunk Driving

New Delhi, Dec 30: Some warnings are easy to ignore. Others demand attention. This New Year season, CARS24 is turning city billboards into powerful reminders of what drunk driving leaves behind by featuring original wrecked cars, bringing the aftermath of reckless choices directly into everyday commuting spaces across Delhi, Gurugram and Pune.

Drunk driving continues to pose a serious threat to road safety across India, cutting across cities and states. On a single night, New Year’s Eve 2024, enforcement agencies booked hundreds of offenders, reflecting the scale of the problem during peak travel periods. Across major states, tens of thousands of drunk-driving cases have been recorded through intensified checks, from Haryana and Maharashtra to the National Capital Region. At the national level, estimates for 2024 suggest that nearly 14,390 road accidents were linked to drunk driving, resulting in more than 6,542 deaths. Even official data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways highlights the persistence of the issue, with 9,143 alcohol-related accidents and 3,674 fatalities recorded in 2023 alone. Together, these figures underline that drunk driving is not a localised problem but a nationwide road safety challenge.

Launched on December 29, the initiative brings the harsh reality of drunk driving into public view by displaying original wrecked vehicles on billboards across Delhi NCR and Pune. These are genuine damaged cars, not stylised visuals or dramatized depictions. By placing real wreckage in everyday public spaces, the campaign relies on realism rather than shock value, creating moments of pause that stay with viewers long after the first glance.

While celebrations may last a night, the consequences of driving under the influence can last a lifetime. By combining repeated on-road exposure with growing digital amplification, CARS24 aims to shift focus from short-term indulgence to long-term impact, making the cost of a single decision difficult to ignore.

Speaking on the initiative, Gajendra Jangid, Co-Founder & Group CMO, CARS24, said: “As a company built around mobility, we know that every decision behind the wheel matters. ‘Drink and Drive’ is not about awareness alone, it is about accountability. If this initiative makes even one person pause, put the keys down, and choose safety over convenience, it has achieved its purpose.”

The effort reinforces CARS24’s broader commitment to responsible mobility, road safety, and improved driving behaviour, aligned with its belief in creating better drives and better lives. As the year draws to a close, CARS24 urges everyone to celebrate responsibly and remember that no celebration is worth a life.
