GE Aerospace Welcomes Shilpa Gupta as New Chief Technology Officer for India

Bengaluru, India, Jan 07:  GE Aerospace has announced the appointment of Shilpa Gupta as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for GE Aerospace in India and Site Leader of the John F. Welch Technology Centre (JFWTC), Bengaluru. In her new role, Shilpa will lead the company’s engineering, research, and digital technology teams to accelerate innovation, scale advanced technologies, and strengthen regional impact advancing GE Aerospace’s purpose of inventing the future of flight, lifting people up, and bringing them home safely.

Shilpa joins GE Aerospace from GE Vernova, where she led the Gas Power engineering teams in India across Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida, and also served as JFWTC Site Leader for GE Vernova. She succeeds Alok Nanda, who has transitioned to a global role as General Manager Services Engineering at GE Aerospace, focusing on enhancing customer outcomes, driving operational efficiency, and positioning the company for next-generation growth.

Advancing the Future of Flight

India plays a critical role in GE Aerospace’s global innovation ecosystem, with Bengaluru-based teams driving advancements in next-generation propulsion and services technologies. Engineers and researchers are contributing to the maturation of the CFM RISE program* and hybrid-electric technologies, supporting dust-ingestion testing, and delivering service innovations such as 360 Foam Wash to enhance engine efficiency and durability in demanding operating environments like South Asia.

In parallel, GE Aerospace’s digital teams in Bengaluru are transforming engine maintenance through AI-driven analytics and digital twin technologies, enabling improved inspection accuracy, faster turnaround times, and increased time on wing.

Building Future-Ready Talent

GE Aerospace continues to invest in talent development in India. In September, the GE Aerospace Foundation, in partnership with United Way, launched Next Engineers Bengaluru, a four-year college and career readiness program. Additionally, the company’s flagship Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP)—a two-year rotational leadership program—marked two decades of engineering excellence in India in 2025.

GE Aerospace has partnered with India’s aviation ecosystem for over 40 years, with more than 1,400 GE Aerospace and partner engines currently in service powering major Indian airlines. The company’s defense engines and systems support the Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft (Tejas Mk 1), helicopters, and the Indian Navy’s aircraft carriers, battleships, and frigates.

GE Aerospace’s Pune manufacturing facility, along with 13 local Indian suppliers, forms an integral part of its global supply chain. Engineers and researchers at the 25-year-old India Technology Centre in Bengaluru continue to develop cutting-edge aviation technologies. Over the past two years, GE Aerospace has announced USD 44 million in investments to expand its manufacturing operations in Pune.
