Christmas & New year are beloved holidays and for good reason

“Our joy for the future is anchored in our instincts.” Syed Aabish Hassan.

Why does the beginning of Christmas & New year have such unique symbolism? And why has it been observed so frequently all around the world for at least as long as there have been calendars in the world?

The earth is set to complete another round around the sun, and for many people, that means celebrations, fireworks, and New Year’s resolutions. Given the amount of time, money, and effort we devote to celebrating the holiday as well as our attempts to follow through on a new set of resolutions, even though we typically fail to keep them, it is obvious that our behavior is connected to something fundamental about the human animal, something profoundly meaningful and significant. It’s possible that one of the strongest drives of all—our desire to survive—is the source of the symbolism we associate with this particular moment.

As we mark the end of this year, we have again fundamentally accepted & readied ourselves to embrace the same charm in a somewhat new fashion. Remembering our last Winterfest event just after the post-pandemic world when the ideas thwarted around the Globe, our propelling fresh thrust was much needed for the city to cheer. Our similar effort of the kind is expected this year too.

Following an ‘Eventwala’ batch in the city has some duties to render, as the city demands. Our extension from the hardcore event business to newer attributes in digital media & hospitality has again tweaked our profile and thus the social responsibilities associated with us. But the celebratory part is obvious. Like our birthdays, Christmas & New Year’s Day gives us the opportunity to celebrate our accomplishments of 365 days, the unit of time by which lives are chronologically entered. It’s been another year and here we are! It’s time to raise our glasses and toast to our survival. “Survival of the fittest” is a phrase that though originated from Darwinian evolutionary theory as a way of describing the mechanism of natural selection but that holds in our day-to-day life, business & so on.
