Bihar Museum Ranked No. 1 in Asia, Ninth in the World
Dr Birbal Jha Congratulates Art and Culture Minister Pramod Kumar, Director General Anjani Kumar Singh and the Museum Team; Highlights British Lingua’s Contribution
Patna, November 2, 2026: Bihar Museum in Patna has earned a prestigious place on the global cultural map, securing the first position in Asia and the ninth position in the world in the World’s 100 Best Museums 2026 list published by Worth a Journey.
The achievement has drawn congratulations from across Bihar’s cultural and academic circles. Dr Birbal Jha, educationist, author and Managing Director of British Lingua, has congratulated Bihar’s Art and Culture Minister Dr Pramod Kumar, Director General of Bihar Museum Anjani Kumar Singh (IAS, Retd.), and the entire museum fraternity on the international recognition.
Describing the ranking as a moment of pride for Bihar, Dr Jha said the achievement was not merely the success of an institution but a recognition of the state’s rich civilisational heritage, artistic traditions and historical legacy. He said Bihar Museum’s place among the world’s leading museums demonstrated that institutions from Bihar could achieve global standards through visionary leadership, professional management and sustained commitment.
Dr Jha also appreciated the role of Art and Culture Minister Dr Pramod Kumar, saying that leadership and institutional support from the department were important in preserving, promoting and presenting Bihar’s cultural heritage. He expressed confidence that the recognition would provide fresh momentum to the state’s cultural institutions and encourage further efforts to showcase Bihar’s heritage on national and international platforms.
He particularly commended the leadership of Director General Anjani Kumar Singh and the dedication of the museum’s officers and staff. According to him, the achievement reflected the collective efforts of those who have worked to develop Bihar Museum as an institution of international standing.
Bihar, Dr Jha noted, occupies a distinctive place in India’s civilisational history. From the ancient centres of learning at Nalanda and Vikramshila to its Buddhist, Jain and Mauryan legacies, the state has contributed significantly to the intellectual, spiritual and cultural evolution of the country. Bihar Museum, he said, provides a contemporary platform for presenting this heritage through its collections, galleries and visitor-oriented approach.
British Lingua’s Association with Bihar Museum
Dr Jha also recalled British Lingua’s professional association with Bihar Museum. Under Lingua Multiservices Private Limited, the organisation conducted a Spoken English Training Programme for the museum’s officers and officials.
The programme was undertaken under a work order dated January 15, 2026, and successfully completed on April 9, 2026. Bihar Museum subsequently issued a Certificate of Completion on May 8, 2026, signed by its Additional Director, Ashok Kumar Sinha.
The certificate records that the programme had a positive impact on the participants’ communication skills and confidence. It also acknowledges the dedicated efforts and contribution of Dr Birbal Jha and his team in successfully completing the initiative.
Dr Jha said effective communication was essential for cultural institutions that interact with visitors, scholars, researchers and international audiences. A museum, he observed, was not simply a repository of artefacts but also a centre of knowledge, public engagement and cultural exchange.
He said British Lingua felt privileged to have contributed, in its own way, to strengthening the communication skills of the personnel serving such a prestigious institution.
Opportunity to Boost Cultural Tourism
Dr Jha said the international recognition should be seen as an opportunity to position Bihar more prominently as a destination for cultural, historical and educational tourism. The achievement could attract researchers, historians, heritage enthusiasts and international visitors to the state.
He also stressed the need to develop a coordinated cultural tourism ecosystem connecting museums, archaeological sites, historical monuments and traditional art forms.
“Economic development and cultural confidence must go hand in hand. Bihar’s heritage is one of its greatest strengths, and institutions such as Bihar Museum can play a significant role in projecting that legacy to the world,” he said.
Congratulating the Minister, the Director General and the entire Bihar Museum team once again, Dr Jha said the achievement had given every Bihari a reason to feel proud.
“Bihar Museum has brought the history and cultural magnificence of Bihar to the global stage. Its achievement is a reminder that world-class institutions can emerge from Bihar and earn the admiration of the world,” he added.
