Achilles Celebrates 14 Years in India: Strengthening Supply Chains Through Purpose and Progress
Mumbai, July 28, 2025: Achilles, a global leader in supply chain risk and sustainability management, has completed 14 years of operations in India. A journey defined by steady growth, deep-rooted resilience, and a clear commitment to helping businesses operate with transparency, responsibility and impact.
What began with a single hire in India has evolved into a thriving operation of over 100 employees across multiple cities, serving a growing network of suppliers and buyers in some of the most complex supply chains. At the centre of this journey is Smitha Shetty, now Regional Director APAC, whose leadership has helped shape the company’s presence not just in India but across the wider Asia Pacific region.
“Starting as the first employee for Achilles in India, I have had the privilege of witnessing our growth from a single presence in Mumbai to a connected regional footprint spanning India, Hong Kong and now Sydney,” said Smitha Shetty, Regional Director for APAC at Achilles. “This journey has been built by our people, whose dedication and deep understanding of local and global challenges have helped organisations navigate evolving ESG regulations and manage increasingly complex supply chain risks. Their ability to bring clarity, build trust and stay close to the needs of our partners has enabled us to remain relevant across diverse markets in the Asia Pacific region.”
Operating with the ethos of “we are in the business of doing good business,” Achilles has played an active role in helping organisations respond to the growing need for transparency, decarbonisation and regulatory compliance. From ESG data collection and supplier risk assessment to human rights due diligence and carbon accounting, Achilles supports businesses at every stage of their sustainability journey.
India continues to serve as a pivotal hub in Achilles’ APAC operations. Following the successful establishment of offices in Mumbai and Hong Kong, the recent opening of its Sydney office further strengthens its regional presence. This expansion reflects Achilles’ strategy to deliver global expertise grounded in local insight; helping organisations address compliance frameworks such as BRSR Core, the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and modern slavery legislation.
As ESG expectations increase and value chains become more complex, Achilles is focused on scaling its impact further. The company aims to work even more closely with public and private sector organisations, especially MSMEs, to provide access to tools and frameworks that enhance supplier resilience, improve ESG reporting, and foster trust across networks.
From one employee to a regional team of 100+, and from a market entry to becoming a trusted partner for sustainable procurement, Achilles’ India story is a story of relevance, responsibility, and readiness.
