STPI observes its 34th Foundation Day: A Legacy of Enabling IT Excellence and a Vision for Tech–Powered Bharat
New Delhi, 6th June, 2025: Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has proudly completed its 34 impactful years of dedicated service to the nation. Over the past three decades, STPI has played a pivotal role in propelling India’s IT landscape through consistent growth in software exports and by fostering a vibrant tech startup ecosystem that aligns with the vision of a digitally empowered India.
Since its inception in 1991 with a focus on boosting software exports, STPI has evolved into a cornerstone of innovation, startup empowerment, and digital inclusion, operating 67 centres, including 59 in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
On STPI’s 34th Foundation Day, Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General, STPI, said: “Today is a proud moment for STPI. STPI started its journey with three centres, and at that time, the IT industry was at a nascent stage. Now, STPI has 67 centres across the country and these centres have played a vital role in transforming the IT industry. In 2024-25, the exports done by STPI registered units have reached to more than ₹10 lakh crores. Aligned with the mandate of the Government of India, STPI is working for the dispersal of the IT industry to Tier-II & Tier-III cities of the country for inclusive growth. Also, STPI is nurturing the tech startup ecosystem across India through its 24 Centres of Entrepreneurship (CoEs) and NGIS and supported more than 1400 startups. Startups empowered through the STPI ecosystem have raised funds of Rs. 574 crores from investors so far.
Initiated with facilitating IT/ITeS exports, incubation, and data communication services, STPI has grown into a key pillar of the nation’s digital and innovation ecosystem. We remain deeply committed to empowering the Indian startup ecosystem across the country, making innovation truly inclusive. It is particularly encouraging that 44% of startups under STPI’s umbrella are led by women entrepreneurs, many of whom come from smaller towns and cities.”
Having facilitated over ₹10 lakh crore in software exports, STPI remains committed to nurturing innovation, generating employment and promoting inclusive digital growth.
STPI empowers India’s tech industry with 17 lakh sq. ft. of workspace, five Tier-3 data centers, 24 Centres of Entrepreneurship (CoEs), state-of-the-art labs, SAYUJ – Startup Community Network, Ananta – STPI Cloud Services, and schemes such as Next Generation Incubation Scheme (NGIS), BPO Promotion Schemes and Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC).
STPI workspaces are promoting tech-driven enterprises with ultra-modern facilities and offer Plug & Play incubation spaces, raw/semi-furnished office areas, and shared amenities. Spread across Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III cities, these workspaces provide startups and tech companies with the ideal environment to ideate, build, and scale.
Furthermore, STPI has supported over 1400+ startups, facilitated the creation of more than 2205 products, and enabled over 1086 IPR filings through its 24 domain-specific CoEs and NGIS. STPI CoEs offer 360-degree support across various aspects, including lab infrastructure, mentorship, IP filing, go-to-market strategy, market access, funding, and more.
STPI is leveraging its prowess and expertise garnered over more than three decades, by providing Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT) to the IT industry and government organisations for ensuring their operations are hassle-free and in a secure manner.
Similarly, SAYUJ, India’s exclusive startup community network unites and empowers stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem. It connects startups with innovators, mentors, and investors to accelerate their start-up journey. It helps mentors guide, inspire, and shape the future of next-gen innovators & entrepreneurs. It facilitates investors to discover innovative startups, invest strategically, and collaborate with peers. Additionally, SAYUJ provides unified access to pan-India contests and events on one platform.
In fostering the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, STPI is providing sovereign cloud services through “Ananta” — a hyperscale cloud platform. Ananta goes beyond conventional Compute Infrastructure Services (IaaS) by also offering Platform as a Service (PaaS), Software as a Service (SaaS), and GPU-based services.
Through all these initiatives, STPI is working relentlessly to strengthen the IT industry and tech startup ecosystem to transform the country into a software product nation.
