Maya Academy of Advanced Creativity hosted a special webinar Behind the Screens for 5000 students to deep dive into the AVGC-XR Industry

MUMBAI, 17 March 2025: Maya Academy of Advanced Creativity (MAAC), a premiere institute and a pioneer in high-end 3D animation, Gaming & VFX training, organised a special webinar for its students, giving them an exclusive and in-depth understanding of the world of VFX, digital filmmaking, and the foundations of creativity. Over 5000 students from MAAC’s centres across India attended the webinar online. The event, which is part of MAAC’s ongoing initiative called Behind the Screens, aims to provide real-world industry exposure to its students, setting a new benchmark by leveraging strong industry ties to prepare students for successful careers in the growing AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics & Extended Reality) and Media & Entertainment industries.

The webinar was presented by Mr. Jay Mehta, VFX Supervisor, Scanline VFX at the MAAC centre in Mumbai and live streamed at all its centres pan India. Mr. Jay holds nearly two decades of experience as a VFX professional and has worked with brands such as Netflix, Epic Games, and more. He shared an exclusive window into the world of VFX and its career paths for MAAC students, exploring the various opportunities in visual storytelling, and emphasizing the importance of strengthening foundations and connections in today’s age of rapidly advancing technologies. The discussion was interactive, and it highlighted that while these developments offer powerful new tools for storytellers, the human ability to craft compelling stories and build authentic connections continue to triumph in today’s professional landscape.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Sandip Weling, Chief Business Officer, Global Retail, Aptech Limited said, “At MAAC, community-led platforms such as Behind the Screens have been playing a crucial role in skilling our students to prepare them for their careers in the AVGC-XR industry. Speaking about his workshop, Mr. Jay Mehta, VFX Supervisor, Scanline VFX shared, “It was a delight to engage with students at my alma mater and understanding how skills & preferences of aspirants of the AVGC-XR industry have grown over the year. Everyone who participated in the BTS session was passionate about the world of storytelling, filmmaking, and VFX, and it was extremely heartening to see so. During the session with MAAC students, we were able to discuss learnings from individual career journey in the AVGC-XR sector. It was also evident that youngsters today are very optimistic about the use and adoption of new technology. I encourage the students to harness the potential of this technology and be ready for their careers early on by preparing their portfolios and showreels early on, share their learnings on social media for the world to experience, and enhance their productivity using the various software.
