Ryan International Academy Brings Environmental Awareness to Streets with Play on Ozone Depletion
Pune, Hinjawadi 6th, November, 2024: As part of an impactful environmental advocacy campaign, students from Ryan International Academy, Hinjawadi, staged a captivating street play addressing ozone layer depletion. This performance engaged local residents at three major locations in Hinjawadi, effectively bringing to life the message of environmental conservation. By utilizing this creative medium, the students aimed to educate the community about this critical environmental issue.
Students of grades 6-8 acted in a bilingual play, speaking both in Hindi and English, performing to inform the public about the harmful effects of Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) that are released through air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. The show was held at Blue Ridge Circle (Phase 1), Happiness Street (Phase 2), and Fountain Market (Phase 3), and the performances drew a combined audience of 210-240 people across the three venues.
Under the guidance of Event Head Ms. Archana Tiwari, students prepared for a week to deliver their message effectively. The play was more practical and focused on judicious use of air conditioning systems in homes and offices to minimize CFC emissions. Students further enhanced their performance with informative posters and banners to reinforce their environmental message.
“This initiative reflects our school’s commitment to combining academic excellence with social responsibility,” said Ms. Archana Tiwari, who spearheaded the project. “Our students have demonstrated that they can be powerful advocates for environmental change in our community.”
The street play is a part of the broader aim of Ryan International Academy to inculcate environmental awareness and sense of responsibility among its students and the community as well. Such initiatives make this school continue to cultivate another generation of environmentally responsible citizens who are aware of sustainable living.
