WorkIndia Survey Highlights Top Reasons Blue-Collar Workers Look for New Opportunities

29th October 2024: WorkIndia, a leading tech enabled blue-collar hiring platform, has released a new survey that uncovers the motivations driving job searches among blue-collar employees in India. Conducted in two phases, the primary research involved direct interactions with 15 employees to inform the survey, which was subsequently distributed to 1,050 respondents. Notably, 40% of participants are currently employed but actively seeking new job opportunities.

The survey reveals that the quest for a better salary is a significant motivator, with 22% of respondents indicating that financial compensation is their primary reason for job hunting. Additionally, 20% of respondents cited career growth opportunities as a driving factor, while another 20% noted personal motivations such as relocation, completing education, or changes in family circumstances.

Many experienced candidates feel they need to be more fulfilled in their current roles, prompting them to explore better opportunities. Concerns over layoffs or financial instability within their current employer often trigger candidates to seek new jobs. Additionally, the potential for higher salaries and superior benefits remains a primary motivator for many. Candidates increasingly prioritize organizations that align with their personal values, particularly regarding work-life balance and company culture.

48% of candidates reported that they continue to use the job search application even after securing a job. Out of which, a substantial 74% of respondents indicated that they are searching for better job opportunities. This statistic highlights a significant desire among blue-collar workers for roles that offer improved financial compensation and promise enhanced job satisfaction and career growth. Other 16% of the respondents reported that they are actively searching for job opportunities on behalf of others.

38% of candidates reported that they continue to use the same job search application even cause the platform helps get them relevant jobs at ease, highlighting the platform’s ongoing relevance in the job market.
