ICAI Leads Accounting Transformation with AI , Hosts AIS 2025 Innovation Summit

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the largest professional body of Chartered Accountants in the world, successfully inaugurated the highly awaited AI Innovation Summit – AIS 2025 at Buntara Bhavana in Pune. The theme of the Summit, “Transforming Accounting, Audit, Tax, and Governance,” reflected ICAI’s commitment to harnessing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence across these critical domains.

The two-day event featured panel discussions and thought-provoking sessions led by global AI experts, technology leaders, policymakers, and academicians. These sessions delved into key dimensions of AI integration in accounting, audit, taxation, and governance, offering deep insights into how emerging technologies are reshaping the profession.

In a landmark strategic initiative, ICAI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with M/s Google (India). This collaboration will pave the way for joint initiatives in AI projects, events, certificate courses, and the establishment of an AI Research Lab, reinforcing ICAI’s position at the forefront of technological advancement in the accounting profession.

AIS 2025 also celebrated a significant milestone, the 500th Batch of the AICA Level 1 Course, launched just over a year ago. Building on this achievement, ICAI launched AICA Level 2, an advanced certification course exclusively for members who completed AICA Level 1. This marked a major step forward in capacity building and professional upskilling amid an AI-led transformation.

In his inaugural address, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, President of ICAI, highlighted, “AI can never replace human wisdom; it is a tool to empower, not overpower. At ICAI, we are preparing Chartered Accountants to lead this transformation through specialized training, curriculum integration from 2027, and global collaborations. The profession is evolving and ICAI is at the forefront of shaping a future-ready generation of professionals”.

Further, to expand the reach of this initiative globally, AICA Level 1 was introduced across ICAI’s Foreign Chapters, empowering Indian Chartered Accountants and professionals abroad to stay aligned with global advancements in AI. This move demonstrated ICAI’s commitment to enhancing international competence among its members.

CA. Prasanna Kumar D, Vice President of ICAI, added, “If CA profession must thrive for the next 30 to 40 years, AI is not optional—it’s essential. Realising this, ICAI is not just adapting but leading, with innovations like CA-GPT and Student-GPT, empowering over 1 lakh users daily. Our vision is clear—by 2027, every Chartered Accountant must be AI-aware, AI-enabled, and AI-empowered”

Participants can gain hands-on experience and practical insights through interactive workshops on AI tools, techniques and best practices for accounting, audit, tax and governance. The event will also host the grand finale of the AI Hackathon with winners being recognized and awarded. Ample networking opportunities will allow participants to connect with peers, colleagues, and solution providers worldwide, fostering the exchange of ideas and collaboration in AI-driven finance.

On this occasion, CA. Umesh Sharma, Chairman, AI in ICAI, said, “Artificial Intelligence is not just a tool—it is the torchlight that guides our profession into the future. When combined with human wisdom, AI becomes a catalyst for knowledge, growth, and transformation.”

The summit reflected ICAI’s dedication to promoting forward-looking strategies and leveraging digital innovation in accounting, auditing, taxation, and governance. AIS 2025 served as a catalyst in shaping the future of the profession, while contributing meaningfully to India’s economic growth.
