Students of Acharya Tulsi Academy Orchids The International School spread a green message with senior citizens on World NGO DayKolkata, March 2nd, 2023: Students of Acharya Tulsi Academy Orchids The International School celebrated World NGO Day with elderly people at Sandhya Mita, an NGO in the city, spreading cheers and celebrating green. Students from grade 6 visited the NGO at Baguiati and gifted potted plants to the elderly members of the old age home.

The students decorated the balcony and corridor with those potted plants and celebrated the spirit of a good, clean, and green environment by cutting a cake. The elderly citizens also had a lovely music session with the school kids. All the members of the old age home were delighted and emotional.

Ansh Minhas, a student in grade 7 said, “It was a great experience for my friends and me to celebrate World NGO day with so many sweet didaas. One of them was a gold medalist in music and she played the guitar and sang a beautiful song for us. Not only today but my friends and I have decided to visit this place and spend some time with them going forward too.”

Anushka Singh, a student in grade 7 said, “Today we visited Sandhya Mita’s old age home, and I was surprised to see a grandma who belongs to my hometown, Bihar. We had a nice time chatting with each other in Bhojpuri (the local language of Bihar).”

Sharmili Shah, Principal of Acharya Tulsi Academy Orchids The International School, said, “We at Orchids The International School always motivate our students to share their joy and happiness with everyone in the society. I’m glad that the students visited the NGO for the elderly, where they could spend quality time with them. It is also our responsibility to make this environment a safer and green place for them and everyone. Our campus is a green, so on World NGO day, we decided to give them a greener environment, and the students and we were equally excited to witness the happy faces of the elderly”.

The event coordinator, Ms. Abira Deb said, “Orchids The International School is the best place where you learn to live with society. Today’s generation is majorly brought up in a nuclear family, so they don’t get the chance to spend time with their grandparents, but today when we took our students to the old age home, they were overjoyed, and it was nice to see them feel the elderly love.”

Debansh Vasisht, a student in grade 7 said, “On the occasion of World NGO day, we celebrated and conducted a horticulture program with the grandmothers. We also cut a cake; it was a beautiful time, and I look forward to more such visits.”
