National Conference on Law Hosted by NMIMS Navi Mumbai Draws Praise

Navi Mumbai, 26 April 2023: The Publication and Seminar Committee of the School of Law, NMIMS Navi Mumbai, hosted the National Conference, providing an exceptional opportunity for legal professionals, research scholars, and students to share their research and ideas on Nuclear Law, International Law, Women and Child Rights, and Human Rights.

The conference received an overwhelming response, with 41 research papers submitted from legal professionals, academicians, scholars, and students across India. After a rigorous selection process, ten papers were chosen for presentation and publication. The performance of the participants was evaluated by Senior Professor Dr. Saslina Kamaruddin from Malaysia and Prof. Dr. Abhinandan Bassi from RGNUL.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a formal address by Dr. Megha Ojha. Dr. Nitin Balwani, Dr. Chandan Adhikari, and Dr. Aparna Rao addressed the gathering. Hon’ble Justice Gopal Krishan Vyas, Chairperson of the Rajasthan Human Rights Commission, graced the event as the Chief Guest, emphasizing the significance of procedural laws in practice, the lack of groundwork for the protection of human rights, and the need for better infrastructure. He also highlighted the crucial role of students in ensuring that the legal profession’s service motive does not get lost in the pursuit of a successful career in corporate.

In Valedictory Ceremony, Dr. Aparna Rao stressing the importance of highlighting human and child rights and after that, Guest of Honour Dr. Jyotsna Yagnik, Former Principal Judge, City Civil and Sessions Court, Ahmedabad, spoke on the importance of human rights, women’s and child rights, natural justice, the lack of effective implementation of laws, and the need for courts to cater to the general public.

The conference concluded by announcing the results. The first place was secured by Mr. Sumit Maheshwari & Mr. Gopal Kag, and Ms. Harshita Prasad secured the second place.

The National Conference was a resounding success, demonstrating the School of Law, NMIMS Navi Mumbai’s commitment to promoting legal education and research in India and creating a valuable platform for scholarly exchange among legal professionals and students.
