IIM Bodh Gaya Ends 3-Day MDP for Bihar Planning Officials

IIM Bodh Gaya Ends 3-Day MDP for Bihar Planning OfficialsIIM Bodh Gaya, in collaboration with the Government of Bihar, concluded the three days Management Development Programme (MDP) for District and State Level Officials of Planning and Development Department. The valedictory session of the MDP, was held on September 13, 2024. The programme aimed at equipping participants with the skills for efficient planning and management of projects contributing towards development of Bihar.

Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, highlightead the importance of management training for officials and expressed the institute’s pride in providing this opportunity to the participants. A total of 23 participants attended the programme, including Regional Planning Officers, District Planning Officers, Assistant Directors, and Assistant Planning Officers. The participants were from Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Kosi, Magadh, Munger, Patna, Purnea, Saran, and Tirhut regions of Bihar. This diverse group represented both regional and district-level leadership, responsible for implementing Bihar’s Five-Year Plans and various socio-economic development projects across the state.

The programme was designed to empower the participants with knowledge and tools needed to enhance leadership and strategic capabilities among key personnel involved in the state’s planning and development efforts. The programme covered 12 intensive sessions, including topics such as Vision, Mission, and People Alignment, Stakeholder Dynamics, Interpersonal Skills and Team Building, Mindfulness, Data Analytics, Project Management, Financial Monitoring and Evaluation, and Managing Social Media And Department Reputation.

Planning & Development Department is one of the most important and key department for the Plan Formulation, Implementation and Policy Determination. The department works towards the consolidation of developmental schemes of various departments and creation of 15-Year Vision, 7-Year Strategy and 3-Year Work Plan. It is concerned with the plan formulation and implementation of regional plans for reducing and bridging the gaps in regional and urban infrastructure in the urban and rural areas.

The collaboration between IIM Bodh Gaya and the Government of Bihar aligns with the institute’s commitment towards the development of Bihar. The institute also provides leadership and management training to various departments of the Bihar government, such as the Water Resource Department, State Health Society, Bihar Police Academy, BIPARD, and the Department of Industries, among others.
