TCEI, Telangana Govt Empower 180 Rural Women with Event Management Skills

Hyderabad, Dec 2: Telangana Chamber of Events Industry (TCEI) – an industry body of the events business of the state with over 450 members – has successfully completed training in different crafts of Event Management for the 2nd batch of 180 rural women drawn from 32 districts of Telangana from November 27th to December 1st, 2025. This 5-day residential training was conducted at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) campus at Gachibowli sponsored by Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Government of Telangana.

The training was imparted by experienced members of TCEI who are successfully running their businesses in the events field for about 2 decades. The women candidates were trained in 6 different crafts of Event Management viz., Decoration Techniques and New Trends, Sound & Light Management, Event Production, Catering & Food Services, Make-up and Grooming and Photo & Videography. Classroom training was supported with field visits to make the candidates get first-hand experience of organising the events.

Prof. Y L Srinivas, Vice-Chancellor of Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, Mulugu; was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Ceremony graced by Sri P W Johnson, Director SERP (Non-farm), Dr. V Venkata Ramana, Director NITHM, Sri A Balaram Babu, President TCEI and Sri Ravi Bura, General Secretary, TCEI.

Prof. Y L Srinivas while speaking on the occasion said, that this is a unique program and expressed happiness over more n more women taking up entrepreneurship in Male dominated fields. He also said that the government should encourage these trained women event managers with their programs in respective districts.

Smt. D. Divya, IAS, CEO of SERP; interacted with the women participants virtually and enquired about their training and was impressed with the excitement levels of the women to start their businesses in Event Management when they go back to their native districts. Certificates were also presented to the candidates at the valedictory program.

Dr. Venkata Ramana, Director, NITHM; said, NITHM would be glad to associate with such women empowerment programs.

Mr. Ravi Bura, General Secretary, TCEI; thanked SERP, NITHM for giving an opportunity to train women entrepreneurs in Event Management there by spreading their imprint in the rural segment.

The other dignitaries present at the valedictory function were Smt. Samata from SERP, Ms. Michelle Francis, Training Coordinator at NITHM, Ms. Sanju Deeti, EC Member of TCEI; Mr. Ajay Chandra, Training Head of Event Management, TCEI, Mr. Uday Kumar, Training Coordinator and all the faculty members.
