Heartening to note the focus:

(a) on capex and infrastructure at one end which will serve as a positive driver and have a cascading effect on the economy as a whole
(b) on rural India, agriculture and the bottom of the pyramid on the other.

Thus we have positive stimulants at both ends of the spectrum simultaneously.

A specific focus on women – who do need to be at the forefront of development – is very encouraging. It is an established fact that when more women enter the workforce, economies grow.

The importance to millets as a healthy, ancient grain bodes well for Indian agriculture and also for healthy living.
Would have liked to see a more direct emphasis on the small and marginal farmer. The concern is that he should not get left behind in the larger thrust on numbers and on volume/scale.

Finally, as is usually the case, the budget is a statement of intent – to that extent, it is a positive one overall.
However, it is the execution on the ground that is key. And we need to see that happening.
