Bengaluru: Industry leaders discussed topics like cryptocurrency, Web 3.0, blockchain, AI, their impact on our lives, and their interactions with other technologies at the IET Future Tech Congress 2022. The discussion was part of a special spotlight on the Fintech sector at the IET Future Tech Congress 2022, organised by The Institution of Engineering and Technology.

The discussion was part of a special spotlight on Fintech at the IET Future Tech Congress 2022, organised by The Institution of Engineering and Technology. The segment is one of six special spotlights that are in focus for the event – Manufacturing, Mobility, Sustainability, Technology Standards, Fintech, and Healthcare.

Speaking at the event, Sean Lee, Senior Advisor – Crypto Council for Innovation, said “The fintech industry is growing at a rapid pace. We are seeing tremendous innovations and worldwide community building within the industry, and although there is still a long road ahead, it is a journey that is worthwhile and beneficial for all of us.”

The Fintech spotlight began with an opening address by Sharat Chandra – Chair, Blockchain Working Group, IET Future Tech Panel. This was followed by a special guest address and the IET Web 3.0 playbook launch by Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, Government of Telangana who attended the event virtually, and Smt Rama Devi Lanka, Director, Emerging Technologies, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) ITE & C Department, Government of Telangana.

Speaking at the event Smt Rama Devi Lanka, Director, Emerging Technologies, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) ITE & C Department, Government of Telangana, addressed the audience on 3 ingredients necessary to pole vault India in the next era of digitisation:(1) Data enabled policies (2) Innovation (3) Institutionalizing initiatives. Speaking on the launch of Web3.0 Playbook at the FTC 2022 she mentioned that the Playbook will be immensely helpful in implementing the Web3.0 Sandbox recently put in place by the Telangana government with the aim of revolutionising and improving administrative as well as government functioning.

The spotlight also featured an address by Shri Jayesh Ranjan’s Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, Government of Telangana, on how Telangana has been one of the pioneers in adopting technological innovations in governing policies.

The spotlight also featured a leadership panel on the future of Fintech, chaired by Sharat Chandra, Chair – Of blockchain Working Group, IET Future Tech Panel, and featured Vidya Krishnan – SBI, Dipu KV – Bajaj Allianz and AsheetaRegidi – Cashfree Payments. The spotlight concluded with a Tech Debate on Web 3.0 & Meta Commerce: ‘Is India ready to seize the trillion dollar opportunity, chaired by Pankaj Diwan – Co-Founder, IBF and featuring PrasannaLohar, CEO Blockstack, President, India Blockchain Forum, Purushottam Anand – Founder of Cryptolegal, Siddharth Durbha, Director – Emerging Tech at KPMG and Sean Lee, Senior Advisor – Crypto Council for Innovation and

“It is important to spread awareness about emerging technologies like blockchain, crypto, and AI at a university level. Government initiatives like those in Telangana help in educating and integrating technology with other systems. The spotlight highlighted the challenges and innovations in the Fintech industry, the need for a nuanced approach to cryptocurrencies, and the importance of data-enabled policy, innovation and institutionalising initiatives to usher in the next era of digital transformation.

The two-day national technology conference is centered on the theme ‘Decoding tomorrow’s customer demands”, and focuses on the opportunities and challenges that the customer demands of the future will reveal. It discusses future-focused technology innovation in the form of stimulating panel discussions, insightful keynotes, use case demonstrations and high-octane tech debates (both 2-way and 3-way debates) with industry leaders and experts, unveiling technology 5 years from now.
